- HB 1257 / 2019
Designers have an opportunity to decarbonize the design and retrofit new and existing large commercial buildings over 50,000 square feet. Washington’s Clean Buildings Act seeks to improve building energy performance through design, energy efficiency standards, retrofit incentives, utility programs, and building codes. From 2021-2026, the program will be a voluntary incentive program, and following 2026, it will be mandatory.
- SB 5116 / 2019
The design community can help Virginia actualize its goal of producing 30% electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and 100% of its electricity from carbon-free sources by 2050 through Expanding Access to Clean Energy and Growing the Clean Energy Jobs of the Future.
- H 1814 / 2019
Decarbonization becomes more accessible through the passage of laws such as H 1814. This law expands equitable access to renewable energy by creating a framework of payment incentives and tax credits for community solar and shared commercial projects.
