Illinois

The Transportation Infrastructure Act promotes the development of private-sector transportation infrastructure innovation through new design-build projects. This bill allows Illinois to contract with designers from the private sector to modernize and decarbonize transportation infrastructure.

Passed Measure

Designers can help Illinois realize this sweeping climate action act, which includes provisions to phase out carbon emissions from energy and transportation sectors by subsidizing renewable energy integration across the built environment, and a program for justice-oriented, clean-energy jobs.

Passed Measure

This bill supported the University of Illinois’ Prairie Institute in generating a 2022 report regarding Illinois’ potential for carbon capture utilization and storage technology. Designers can draw from this report to co-develop relevant solutions for the built environment that safely and successfully manage carbon.
